Preaching the Gospel of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball

New Home, New Beginning

Posted by The Right Reverend on April 10, 2006

Let's just forget that whole debacle at Wrigley ever happened. First game in the new ballpark, it's a happy occasion. Ernie Hays is pounding the keys, the Clydedales are trottin', the Hall of Famers are waving, (including new Cardinal Hall of Famer Bruce Sutter) and the weather is beautiful.  It's a great day. Let's christen the "House that Albert Built".

  1. David Eckstein SS
  2. Juan Encarnacion RF
  3. Albert Pujols 1B
  4. Jim Edmonds CF
  5. Scott Rolen 3B
  6. So Taguchi LF
  7. Yadier Molina C
  8. Aaron Miles 2B
  9. Mark Mulder P

The Brew Crew

  1. Brady Clark CF
  2. J.J. Hardy SS
  3. Geoff Jenkins RF
  4. Carlos Lee LF
  5. Bill Hall 3B
  6. Rickie Weeks 2B
  7. Prince Fielder 1B
  8. Damian Miller C
  9. Tomo Ohka P

IN GAME UPDATE: Bottom of the 3rd. Thoughts so far? Well, I think we all expected Albert to hit the first homerun in the new stadium, and instead it was Bill Hall. Then Albert hit the next one. Encarnacion continues to leave them stranded, but it's not all his fault. It's tied on Molina's sac-fly, but we could be ahead right now. I won't complain, though. UPDATE:Top of the 9th. Move over Marquis, Mulder has walked, doubled and hit a two run homer. Wow! He's also pitched a pretty good game, striking out 5 in 8 innings, allowing only 2 runs which came on the Bill Hall homerun. Mulder also induced 14 groundouts to 5 fly outs, including 3 double plays. Solid stuff.
